Andy Stuart
Founder and Executive Director
Andy Stuart is Executive Director of Social Voyagers. He has been teaching high school leadership, service-learning, special education and history classes for over 25 years at Menlo-Atherton High School in Atherton, California. Andy has a passion for travel. He has led dozens of service-learning trips abroad to Guatemala, Costa Rica, Peru, and in the Pacific Islands. Additionally, he has organized many local service learning projects. He has been successful at creating an effective organizational mission and setting meaningful goals that community members support. Andy is a highly engaged, resourceful educator who fosters skill development, team building, leadership, and group dynamic integration.
Rachel Andres
Founder and COO
Rachel has been a Teacher at Menlo-Atherton High School since 2005, teaching Math and AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination). She holds a liberal arts degree from Lake Forest College with Mathematics and Secondary Education majors. She also studied Education for Diverse Learners at National Hispanic University.
Rachel loves working with diverse groups in the classroom as a math teacher and on service learning trips as a leader. She cares deeply about students and ensures that well-being and positive group process are the highest priorities when traveling with students. She has been a lead chaperone for dozens of local and international trips. She is highly respected by parents, students, and co-workers for being a solid and effective teacher in the Sequoia Union High School District. She was awarded the Foundation for the Future Excellence in Teaching Award in 2010 and was awarded San Mateo County Teacher of the Year in 2011.
Rachel has a great vision for helping students to learn while serving their communities, a strong work ethic, and superb problem-solving abilities. Rachel is a master of logistics, and her approach to work is resourceful and innovative. She makes sure each group of travelers is on task and focused on details and safety.
Jofreth Mosqueda
Costa Rican Travel Liaison
Jofreth has led many service-learning trips in Costa Rica. His connections in the community are invaluable to the groups traveling to Costa Rica. He is an expert at finding the needs within the community and creating service opportunities that have real impact. Research shows that determining need and partnering with communities is key to a positive international service experience.
Born and raised in Playa Samara, Costa Rica, Jofreth is a living embodiment of the warmth and generosity of the entire Playa Samara community. He prides himself on making every member of the group feel connected to Costa Rica and surrounding villages and is always eager to show our students a side of the community that tourists passing through will never experience.
Yasary Villalobos
Service-Learning Coordinator
Yasary Villalobos is a Menlo-Atherton alumni and currently leads in her community as an after-school High School Program Director in East Palo Alto. Yasary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Studies with a minor in Latina/o Studies and is passionate about allowing education to serve as a tool to empower students and promote collective wellness. With over 16 years of experience in working with students and underserved communities, Yasary is excited to be a part of Social Voyer's mission of student growth, community connection, and being of service to the greater good.
Silvia Torres-Garza
Lead Chaperone
Silvia has been a Guidance Counselor at Menlo-Atherton High School since 2003, and has been the Lead Counselor for the past eleven years. She earned a BA in Multidisciplinary Studies from Santa Clara University and an MA degree in Counseling Education from San Jose State University. Silvia is a master at working with teens and the group process. She has travelled on service trips as a lead chaperone to Guatemala and Costa Rica for the past four years. Her understanding of the potential of youth is a passion for her and she is a motivator to both adults and teens. Her ability to realize that there is a greater need now more than ever to listen to the voices of youth makes every traveler feel heard and cared for on a trip where she is a chaperone. Silvia is ultra-focused and makes sure the group is safe, emotionally supported, and energized to grow and learn. She lives in Fremont with her husband and son.
